Mechanic
For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance and repairs as necessary on all kinds of equipment: trailers, tractors, forklifts, cranes, compressors & paint pumps.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct routine inspections; identifying worn/damaged parts and replace/repair. Routine inspections to include: brake system, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings and other important components.
- Perform fluid and filter changes.
- Conduct DOT inspections to comply with federal/state vehicle requirements (will provide onsite training if needed).
- Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
- Able to read, understand and apply information from manuals.
- Maintains company vehicle appearance by cleaning and washing.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies and performing preventive maintenance.
- Document/record work performed.
- Perform road/ field repairs when necessary.
- Minor welding and fabricating as required.

- High school diploma/GED with 3+ years mechanic experience in a shop environment.
- Minimum age requirement of 21 for driving responsibilities.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Strong team player with ability to work well with fellow mechanics/drivers/operations personnel.
- Welding knowledge.
- Own your own tools.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written form.
- Dependable and trustworthy.
- Able to lift 50lbs
- Able to climb ladders/ stairs
Work Environment:
- Majority of the time is spent in a shop environment.
- Frequently required to sit, squat, talk and hear.
- Constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and walk.
- Adhere to Maguire’s PPE Policy and Safety Programs.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities. Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to work at a sustained pace and produce quality work.
