Director of Engineering
For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Professional Engineer at Maguire is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing engineering projects while following industry standards and regulations. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. The Director of Engineering will oversee all engineering processes.
Essential Functions:
- Design and Analysis: Develop and evaluate engineering designs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Project Management: Plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects from inception to completion, managing budgets, timelines, and resources.
- Collaboration: Work closely with consulting engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections and tests to ensure the integrity and performance of engineering systems and components.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed engineering reports, plans, and documentation for projects and compliance.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on relevant codes and standards; ensure that projects adhere to all applicable regulations.
- Mentoring: Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering department team members.

Essential Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution; advanced degree in engineering or related field preferred.
- Must possess a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Typically requires 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience in project management preferred (PMP certification a plus)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in engineering software, excellent communication, and teamwork abilities. Experience with software development and platform implementation.
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices and emerging technologies.
The ideal candidate must be able to obtain a working knowledge of all job-specific operating procedures, be extremely quality-conscious and detail-oriented, accept responsibility and account for their own actions, work independently with minimal supervision, be able to build solid relationships with internal and external customers, be dependable and trustworthy, be self-motivated, and have basic computer skills.
Work Environment:
- Majority of the time is spent in an office environment outside of the fabrication shop.
- Frequently required to sit, squat, talk and hear.
- Constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk.
- Adhere to Maguire Iron’s PPE Policy and Safety Programs.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities. Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to work at a sustained pace and produce quality work.
